Gabourey Sidibe, Asking For It – 150 Pounds
If anything, being overweight brought Gabourey Sidibe great success. It was her role as a morbidly obese girl in the 2009 film Precious that brought her fame and earned her an Oscar and Golden Globe nomination. But being overweight was never the long-term plan for Sidibe.
She had been battling her weight her entire life, and she had a few failed methods, including once where she lost 60 pounds and put it all back again. But after fad diets and methods didn’t work, she went the medical route, getting bariatric surgery. She lost 150 pounds since the surgery and had a role in the 2021 film called Asking for It.
