The Amish’s collective mindset of cooperating on their housing unit is another way to save costs. They are renowned for being very skilled artisans and hard workers. Making things is a fundamental aspect of their way of life, after all. Homes constructed by the Amish are entirely handmade.
Amish people construct their own houses, barns, chapels, and other communal structures. In most cases, neighbors will team up to build each other a new barn without having to ask. This way, they don’t have to pay for building their home, which results in significant savings. An added advantage is that they also get to enjoy each other’s company working together.
