Taking Precautions

Jonathan had been careful from the start, always using clothes when handling the small animal. The vet reassured him that the raccoon would be taken to an isolation room for treatment, although success wasn’t guaranteed because of how far it had progressed in the animal.

Additionally, both the vet and Jonathan needed to change clothes and shower to prevent the virus from spreading. Viruses can transfer through clothing by clinging to fabric fibers, which can then come into contact with other surfaces or animals. Proper hygiene and changing clothes were essential to minimize the risk to other animals in the clinic.
