A Mother’s Risky Mission

Karen had a good idea where the newborns were kept, and she wasn’t going to wait any longer to find out what they were hiding. As the nurse finished her final round, the mom slipped out of bed, and made her way up to the second floor, moving quietly to avoid the patrolling security.
She hadn’t bothered to change, so there was no way to pass as a hospital employee. When she finally reached the baby room, her heart sank—the door was locked. She needed a keycard to get inside. Karen had a hunch where to find one, but with her weakened state, any misstep could leave her defenseless.
