Jeff Bridges – Petty Officer Second Class: 1967
Though you may not remember Jeff Bridges from his breakout role in “The Last Picture Show,” his character in the 1998 crime comedy film, “The Big Lebowski,” is pretty hard to forget. I mean, he is ‘The Dude,’ after all. Bridges decided to forgo the comfort and credit his family name afforded and instead made his way through sheer hard work.
Of course, you have to respect a man who joins the Coast Guard Reserves after turning 18 only to spend most of his seven-year-long service performing a series of grueling tasks. In 2021, Bridges narrated the documentary short titled “The Beast of Our Time.”
