A Brave Bus Rider In A White-Only Busy In Apartheid-Era South Africa

Reminiscent of Rosa Parks’ defiant act in the ’50s, this Black man bravely rode a White-only bus in Durban, South Africa, in the mid-’80s. At the time, the country was still implementing apartheid policies that segregated its citizens depending on their race.
It would only be in the ’90s when negotiations to end apartheid in South Africa would begin. And in 1994, the country held its first non-racial election, which Nelson Mandela won. So while we don’t know what became of this man, we’re certain his actions were not made in vain given how far his nation has come.
