Elton John – Age 75
While Sir Elton John is, by all means, a British icon, he first found success in the United States. In the ’70s, he surprised the Californian folk scene with his captivating showmanship, well-crafted bluesy tunes, and memorable lyrics (written by his longtime collaborator Bernie Taupin). “Your Song” and “Tiny Dancer” are his best compositions.
More than just a famous singer, John is also an LGBTQ+ icon. His charitable organization Elton John AIDS Foundation, has raised over $350 million since 1992—the same year he officially came out as a proud gay man. At the time, there was still a lot of stigma against gay people, which John decisively helped to fight.
