Soap opera darling Eileen Derbyshire shocked her fans in 2016 when she announced that she was leaving “Coronation Street” after over five decades of playing fan-favorite Emily Bishop. The actress became synonymous with her character so much so that when she returned to the Cobbles in 2019, her co-stars and supporters were delighted.
However, this was just a temporary comeback as much as the execs wanted her to stay. What adds to Derbyshire’s charm is her ability to keep her personal life private. In February 2021, the ITV soap’s longest-serving star lost Thomas, her husband of 56 years.
