Adobe Makes Sturdy Homes for Native Americans
One of the oldest continuously inhabited communities in the United States is the multi-storied residential complexes of the Puebloan people. These Native Americans can be found in the Southwest portion of the United States, and they make their homes out of Adobe. No, not the software company.
The Puebloan Adobe is made from a mixture of mud and straw, which is then dried to make a brick-like material. These bricks are surprisingly sturdy to create homes that give off a reddish-brown hue. The interesting fact about these homes is that they are durable, lasting over 1000 years.
