Many people believe having luxurious possessions would make them happy, so they spend their time working to accumulate as many of them as possible. On the other hand, the Amish favor delaying pleasure.
Everything they do—from living simply to saving money to buying in bulk—indicates that they are concerned about the future and have made adequate preparations for it. Studies have shown that they amass money they pass on to the upcoming generation. Despite having a large family, they have a system that considers everyone’s needs.
