As the name implies, “Superstition” is a song that talks about popular superstitions and their negative effects. On its release, the song reached number one on the Billboard charts and was acclaimed by Cash Box as one of Stevie Wonder’s most impressive releases in his discography.
Wonder is a virtual one-man band credited for helping reshape the conventions of R&B during the ’70s with his cohesive and consistent socially conscious statements and complex compositions. He released “Superstition” as the lead single for his 15th studio album “Talking Book” in collaboration with guitarist Jeff Beck. It also earned him numerous accolades, including two Grammy Awards.
