Charlotte Dujardin Withdraws from the Games in July 2024

Four days before the opening ceremony in July, British dressage star Charlotte Dujardin withdrew from the Paris Games. A video had surfaced online, showing her disciplinging a horse repeatedly. She explained that the footage was from several years ago and represented an “error of judgment during a coaching session.”
Charlotte is one of Britain’s most decorated athletes, with six Olympic medals. However, the incident led to her provisional suspension by the International Federation for Equestrian Sports, pending a full investigation. This scandal rocked the equestrian world and has cast a shadow over what was to be a highlight of her illustrious career.
