A Two-Time Survivor
Violet Jessop’s life was filled with incredible experiences that few others could imagine. At 25 years old, she was onboard the Titanic when it sank, but her quick thinking and bravery allowed her to survive the tragedy. Jessop also helped other women board lifeboats, and her actions undoubtedly saved lives.
Later, she sailed on the Britannic, which also sank after hitting a German U-boat’s mine. Jessop once again defied death and survived, but her injuries were severe. Despite the trauma, Jessop remained undeterred and continued working at sea until 1950, when she retired. Her story has inspired countless others, and her courage and resilience has cemented her place in history.
