A Successful Launch
The unveiling of the RMS Titanic on May 31, 1911, was a major event. Many arrived to gawk at the large ship that towered over other passenger vessels in the harbor. Interestingly, before its launch, the Titanic was coated in a significant amount of tallow and soap to facilitate its entry into the Lagan River. But the vessel’s appeal was not just in its appearance.
It was equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including a Marconi wireless system, making it one of the most advanced ships of its era. This photograph, taken after the successful launch, captures the ship’s luxurious design and functional features.
