Mr. Thompson had sat there silent since the argument started. Perhaps he was embarrassed by his behavior. The attention of the other passengers had now turned to him as they waited to see what he would do to fix the problem he had caused for absolutely no reason.
He then removed his magazine from Mrs. Wilson’s seat and asked her to sit. He acknowledged the fact that she had paid for the seat, and it was rightfully hers, despite the fact that he had initially tried to deny her that right because she looked too old and unable to afford it.
