A Father’s Parting Gift
When World War II erupted, John, their father, decided to join the army to go and fight the Japanese military in the Pacific Islands. Their country was short of soldiers, and even young boys had to be drafted into the army.
His departure left Dorothy devastated. It’s evident in most families that fathers love their daughters more, and theirs was no different. Before leaving, he gave the young Mrs. Wilson a golden heirloom, a prized possession he had inherited from his grandfather. He asked her to keep the family safe until he returned from the war, showing her trust in her.
