In 1985, the world was shocked when the wreckage of the Titanic was finally discovered 2,000 feet underwater. The finding proved that the ship had indeed split into two parts, with the bow and stern separated by a distance of over half a mile. The ship’s stern was also found lying upside down, confirming the theories of those who believed that it had broken apart.
