Living in an Old Shack

Dorothy and her mother, Kate, were left without husbands and without a place to stay after the fire. And after Jack died, they sold his flock of sheep and bought an old shack where they lived together. It looked like it was only getting worse for them.
Dorothy discovered that she was about to have Jack’s child. However, she was not sure how she would raise the child with all the misfortune that seemed to follow them. By this time, her mother was sickly, which led to dementia that manifested in aggressive behavior. Life only seemed to get more complicated.
