When Raven Symone revealed in 2020 that Wanda Sykes and a handful of LGBTQ+ trailblazers had inspired her to live her life in truth, we figured she was referring to her identity as a lesbian woman. Sykes was married to record producer Dave Hall from 1991 till 1998. However, in a 2013 interview with Oprah, she revealed that she felt little connection to him for most of their marriage.
Although Wanda had thought she was gay right from second grade, she chose to repress her personal orientation and adopt ‘straightness’ because of her religious upbringing. A month after her second marriage, Wanda came out to the public. Skyes continues gracing the big screens voicing Deb in Netflix’s 2021 “Q-Force.”
