Ben Platt—1993, Actor and Singer, Cisgender
Ben Platt stole our hearts with his adorable Benji Applebaum character in “Pitch Perfect.” His on-screen persona in “The politicians” shows he isn’t pulling any punches. However, having an incredible voice and a relatable on-screen persona is clearly not enough. Platt also happens to be a very evocative member of the LGBTQ+ community.
Although he’s been out to his family since age 12, he publicly revealed he was gay in anticipation of his 2019 album,” Sing To Me Instead.” Stating that it’s not necessarily a coming-out album, Platt told USA Today that having an example of someone who shares their personal orientation through art is a beautiful thing. Platt released his second album, “Reverie,” in August 2021.
