Kris Kristofferson, 85
The songs Me and Bobby McGee, Help Me Make It Through the Night, and Sunday Mornin’ Comin’ Down are sung by different artists, but it was the brilliance of songwriter Kris Kristofferson that supplied the lyrics. He is also known for releasing his own hits like Why Me and For The Good Times.
However, he shocked his fans when he announced in January 2021 that he was retiring, and he maintained that it was a decision that came naturally for him. Kristofferson’s age also played a role in this, although in 2020, he was still actively performing with the band The Strangers.
