USS Zumwalt – Cost: $8 Billion
Designed as an attack ship, the USS Zumwalt boasts the latest in modern warfare technology and engineering. It has an electric propulsion system and a stealth design, allowing it to get as close to the shore as possible before unleashing its arsenal of onboard weapons.
Weapons on the Zumwalt include an electromagnetic rail gun that can launch projectiles five times faster than the speed of sound. Construction of the USS Zumwalt began in 2009, and it was finally launched in 2013. It is now considered to be the world’s most advanced surface combatant and is a major asset to the US Navy.
