Boeing C17A Globemaster III – Cost: $340 Million

The Boeing C17A Globemaster III is a military aircraft designed to deliver personnel, equipment, and other vehicles to remote corners of the world. First employed in the ’90s, it is especially suited for transport to locations with difficult terrains. Despite the need for a high-performance aircraft at an affordable cost, the C17A Globemaster III came with a hefty price tag of $3408 million.
Nevertheless, the aircraft’s management and maintenance is covered under Boeing’s sustainment program contract, making every penny worth it. The Globemaster III can carry up to 170,900 pounds of cargo, which is almost twice the capacity of its predecessor, the C-141 Starlifter.
