Mexico’s The Bomb

While there had been tension regarding Mexico and the United States, particularly about immigrants and the border, there was a time when the former country stood its ground against America. According to History, many slaves found their way to Mexico to free themselves from slaveholders.
The Fugitive Slave Act of 1850 mandated those who escaped to be returned, but Mexico refused to be a part of this treaty. Instead, the country claimed that anyone who stepped on their soil will become a free person. Still, some Americans hired catchers to illegally retrieve escapees in Mexico.
