A Silent S
It seems that the letter s has chosen to be silent and the result of that is an alternative name some people like to refer to this company as. The Royal Dutch Shell company has been in existence since the beginning of the 20th century and it is one of the biggest symbols of capitalism.
Big oil as they are referred to has its roots in politics because they control so much of the resources needed for national survival. This influence has allowed them to have a say in the direction of policies and laws in the country which they steer to their profit.
