The Rolling Stones – Japan
Many rock music artists have experienced controversy and restriction in the past. The Rolling Stones were prohibited from performing in Japan in 1973. The band’s sole lead singer, Mick Jagger, was charged with two different illicit substance possession offenses in 1967 and 1970 and ultimately deported.
Consequently, during that prohibition period, Japanese crowds had to go without the delight of seeing The Rolling Stones live. Fortunately, the rock and roll band ended up being the most popular long-lasting significant music act worldwide and has since made it back to Japan.
