Another Disney film to have made the studio ultra-popular was “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” based on the story of the Brothers Grimm released in 1812. As the first animated feature film from the company, it was a hit commercially and critically, earning $8 million against its $1.5-million budget.
The 1937 movie, which earned Disney an honorary Oscar award, talks about Snow White, who lived with dwarves after being banished into the woods by a huntsman. Initially, the princess’ stepmother ordered her death, but since the servant couldn’t bring himself to kill her, he told the “fairest of them all” to lead a quiet life in the forest.
