Don’t let the title deceive you; this isn’t about a gay pair rather about two heartbroken friends who live with each other. Jack Lemmon starred as the troubled Felix, who almost took his own life because of his split, and Walter Matthau as Oscar, the pal who took him in. In just a week, they get on each other’s nerves and perhaps regret their decision.
The 1968 comedy movie was highly successful, grossing over $44 million. Because of this, it inspired the show of the same name that starred Jack Klugman and Tony Randall.
