Ted Kennedy – 1968, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, New York City – Eulogy for Robert F. Kennedy
To many, Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, or RFK, was an icon of American liberalism and a trusted political figure. But to Ted Kennedy, he was a beloved brother first and foremost. And perhaps that’s what made the eulogy Ted gave at RFK’s St. Patrick’s Cathedral funeral all the more poignant.
Committing RFK’s achievements to people’s memory, he ended his speech saying he wanted his brother to be remembered: “simply as a good and decent man.” In turn, Ted, who served as a senator representing Massachusetts, was significantly mourned when he passed away in 2009. Barack Obama, who was then the president, notably delivered the eulogy at his funeral.
