Valentina Sampaio
Valentina Sampaio made history when she became the first openly transgender “Victoria’s Secret” model in August 2019. Not one to rest on her laurels, she made waves again in 2020 as the first openly trans “Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue” model.
Valentina’s career began unexpectedly. She initially studied architecture in Fortaleza, but at 16, she dropped out to pursue fashion. A makeup artist discovered her there and signed her with a São Paulo modeling agency. And it’s a good thing they did because Valentina’s career skyrocketed from there. In 2017, she graced the cover of Vogue Paris, becoming the first transgender person to do so!
