Janet Mock
As an American writer, television host, director, producer, and transgender rights activist, Janet Mock has quite an impressive resume. Her debut memoir, “Redefining Realness,” became a New York Times bestseller.
She started her career in journalism as a staff editor for People magazine’s website, where she worked for more than five years. But her career path shifted when she appeared publicly as a trans woman in a 2011 Marie Claire piece. In the article, Janet raised her voice against how the magazine misrepresented her by stating that she was born and raised as a boy. She always knew she was a girl, and that’s how she wanted to be represented.
