It follows an astronaut who crashed into a strange world filled with developed apes that are capable of speech and possess human-like intelligence. More than its storyline, the movie was hailed for its prosthetics at that time. It has spawned a franchise, with highly acclaimed director Tim Burton helming a remake in 2001 and a reboot series launching in the same year.
