Singin’ in the Rain (1952), 1 hr 43 mins – IMDb user rating: 8.3

Actress Debbie Reynolds was 19 when she landed the role of Kathy Selden in the movie “Singin’ in the Rain,” which catapulted her to stardom. The musical comedy tells the story of silent film stars Don Lockwood (Gene Kelly) and his on-screen leading lady Jean Hagen (Lina Lamont), as their studio marketed them as reel-to-reel lovers.
However, Lockwood falls in love with Selden, who also happens to have an angelic voice, a far contrast to Hagen. Eventually, the audience learned that the pretentious actress had no talent for singing and that it was Selden who had voiced her while performing live in the premiere of “The Dancing Cavalier.”
