Michael Jackson – “Thriller” Jacket

When Michael Jackson’s iconic red leather jacket featured in “Thriller” first hit the auction block in June 2011 in Beverly Hills, it was expected to fetch an estimated $200k. The iconic garment, however, exceeded expectations when the winning bid came in at a staggering $1.8 million.
The winning bidder, Milton Verret of Austin, Texas, intended on displaying the jacket at Austin’s Dell Children’s Hospital to help raise money for medical institutions and non-profits around the world. Jackson’s “Thriller” became the biggest-selling album in history, while its titular main track went on to become the top-grossing single of all time.
