Sara Blakely – “Grease” Pants
After starting her own pants and leggings company, Spanx, in Atlanta, Georgia, Sara Blakely went on to make a killing. The concept of selling American-made intimate apparel was so popular, she spent some of her profits to buy an outfit worn by her favorite actress Olivia Newton-John.
Having made billions from her apparel business, it might seem like chump change when she spent $162k to buy the iconic pair of black satin pants worn by her idol in Grease. In March 2020, Blakely headlined the 2020 Bharat Shah Leadership Speaker Series investment conference at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis.
