Joe Gebbia – $3.3 billion

Joe Gebbia was living with his friend when they realized that they couldn’t pay rent. After all, Gebbia began his life as an artist, majoring in graphic design and industrial design. They bought three air mattresses, and, somehow, this eventually snowballed into what would become one of the biggest companies in the world—Airbnb.
Gebbia describes Airbnb as a community-powered non-profit. In 2021, it has aimed to connect those in crisis with places to stay as part of emergency response efforts related to natural disasters, pandemics, and even refugees fleeing war zones.
