Scott Duncan – $6 billion

Scott Duncan, son of the oil baron Dan Duncan, is the heir to the Duncan family fortune through Enterprise Products Partners. Enterprise was taken public in 1998 and in 2010 had almost 50,000 miles of on and offshore pipelines and nearly 220 million barrels of natural gas and gas liquids in storage capacity.
According to the New York Times, the estate tax was eliminated in 2010, so Duncan became the first billionaire to avoid estate tax legally. Scott inherited over $3 billion when Dan died. Now, he is an investor and has doubled what he is worth in the space of 11 years.
