Elvis Presley – Sergeant: 1958

1957 was a good year for Elvis Presley as he had released chart-topping songs like “All Shook Up,” “Party,” and “Jailhouse Rock,” which became a movie. As the King of Rock & Roll, his enlistment into the Army in 1958 caused a fanfare.
Presley wanted to serve as a regular soldier and rose to the rank of sergeant, serving in Friedberg, Germany, where he met his future wife, Priscilla. After his military service in 1960, he released many songs and movies until he passed away in 1977. Decades later, we still talk about Presley, as in 2021, his white jumpsuit and cape sold for over $1 million.
