Sammy Davis Jr. – Private: 1943
Sammy Davis Jr. was no stranger to performance acts, singing as a child with his father in the group “Will Mastin Trio.” World War II was no deterrent for him, seeing as in 1943, he paused his music career and got drafted into the U.S. Army. Although his service was marred with racism and abuse, he was discharged in 1945 with medals.
Davis was also a member of the Rat Pack. He featured in films like “Ocean’s 11,” “Tap,” and a list of TV shows. In November 2021, The Neon Museum in Las Vegas revealed a mural to honor him and other celebrities.
