Mel Brooks – Corporal: 1944
In 2021, Mel Brooks released his book “All About Me!” A career in showbiz isn’t all there is to the actor and filmmaker, though. Like many others, he enlisted in the Army right out of high school. His high intelligence got him into a specialized unit that fought in heavy combat in Europe and during the battle of the Bulge.
After returning from the war, Brooks began his acting career. “Spaceballs,” “Blazing Saddles,” and “Young Frankenstein” are some of the films he produced. He is one of the elites in the entertainment industry and, in 2021, was the recipient of the Los Angeles Film Critics Association’s Career Achievement Award.
