Japan’s F-35 Lightning II – Cost: $220 Million

The United States is not the only country producing impressive military vehicles. Japan, once a World War II foe of the United States, is now producing advanced aircraft such as the F-35 Lightning II. Japan performs its own final assembly of the aircraft at a Komaki South FACO facility in Nagoya.
The country currently owns 146 F-35s after one of these advanced F-35s was lost in a crashing accident in 2019. This F-35 was the very first one assembled in Japan. The incident highlighted the importance of having advanced military technology, however, it also reminded us of the dangers associated with the use of such vehicles.
