Boeing P-8 Poseidon – Cost: $220 Million

The Boeing P-8 Poseidon is a remarkable aircraft that has its roots in the Boeing 737, the commercial plane used by airlines like United Airlines. It was created to replace the Navy’s P-3 Orion fleet and serve as the go-to anti-submarine aircraft. The P-8 is equipped with torpedoes, bombs, and cruise missiles and can reach an airspeed of 490 knots.
Designed to detect, track, and destroy enemy submarines and other maritime threats, it is also capable of gathering and analyzing data from a variety of sources, including radar, sonar, and electro-optical sensors. The Poseidon can also use its onboard systems to jam enemy communications and jam other radar systems.
