The Trip That Changed Togo’s Life

The moment of reckoning for both Seppala and Togo came when he was just eight months old. By that time, the musher was already weary of his troublesome dog’s antics.
So one day, after he had been hired by a gold miner as a means of transport to a newly discovered mine, he had Togo tied inside the dog shelter to prevent him from breaking off and joining the run. His instructions were clear: the dog was to be kept tied until he and the team were long gone. The trip was supposed to be an overnight one, and he could do without the distractions of an unpredictable pup.
