Nome’s Landmark Isn’t Quite The Same
Another particularly minor detail that could be picked out is the portrayal of Nome’s physical surroundings and landmarks. For instance, Nome, while truly isolated in real life, isn’t immediately surrounded by picturesque sprawling mountains and forests. Nome is bordered by stretches of unimpressive tundra and flat land.
The movie itself was shot in Alberta, Canada, so some of the made-up landscape VFX could be forgiven. A major building that was off the mark in the movie was the hospital. Nome’s real hospital was quite bigger than the small structure portrayed in the film.
