The Incredible Peril Of The Norton Sound

Seppala left Nome with the weight of the whole town on his shoulders and Nulato as his destination. He had made the trip to Nulato before, and he wasn’t going to fail this time. But as he mushed his dogs and balanced the sled, he steeled himself for the intense battle to come: the Norton Sound.
The Norton Sound is a small portion of the Bering Sea that becomes frozen during the Alaskan winter. As such, the solid ice made it walkable in those periods, but as Seppala and generations of people that lived in the region knew, it was an extremely dangerous route.
