The Miraculous Success Of The Serum Run

Under normal circumstances, completing the planned trip might have taken up to 30 days, but the riders were all too aware that nothing about the situation was normal. The town doctor, Welch, had warned that the serum could become useless if it spent more than six days in the brutal cold of the trail.
Despite the savage conditions of the Alaska winter and the looming threat of a snowstorm, Seppala, and the other mushers long after him, rode out without a moment’s hesitation. Amazingly, the teams managed to complete the trip and deliver the serum in five and a half days, just in time to save the people of Nome.
